Passing the Arctic Circle

At our Windy Lake camp, we discussed staying two nights to facilitate a side-trek climb to the reputedly spectacular Schwartzenbach Falls.
We decided against this because we’d be forced to start the following day at 04:30, traverse two serious glacial streams, and walk 14km to our next planned camp, three km north of our planned pick up site.
And —let’s face it—though Schwartenbach Falls might be spectacular, our eyes feasted on majestic scenery no matter where we looked or walked.
Crossing the Arctic Circle at Km 84.5 was a landmark event for all of us! Even though we could have determined the location with GPS, I’m glad Parks Canada created an inukshuk to indicate the location.
